Winter Jumper Competition Entry

The Wildlife Trust.

As this design was intended for a Jumper, I wanted something that had eye-catching shapes that would stand out at a distance, but I also wanted to include the softness of a winter snowy landscape. I chose the hare to demonstrate nature’s remarkable adaptability.

To capture both of these elements, I drew inspiration from Art Nouveau poster designs that were graphic but also organic. I layered collage with pastels, paint and ink to add lots of texture, and a complimentary font that links the piece both to a winter wonderland, as well as hinting at Lewis Carrol’s nostalgic escapism novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’ featuring a white rabbit.
